Auditions for 2015-2016 Season

New choir member auditions:
 

                           Saturday, May 9                                    Thursday,  May 14       
                                                            OR

                           8:00-12:00 noon                                    6:00-9:00 pm   

Youth must be entering grades 9-12 this fall in order to audition.

Perform a selection of your choice, no longer than one minute in length. Bring a back up CD or MP3 for accompaniment or provide sheet music for our pianist. Art songs or Broadway musical numbers are the best to audition with. Please avoid bringing EFY or popular music. Those playing an instrument are encouraged to prepare an instrumental audition piece as well. 

The audition will consist of a small portion of a solo piece, some sight-singing, as well as a short questionnaire on basic music fundamentals.
Please dress appropriately for your audition. A button down shirt for the young men, or a skirt for the young women helps to make a good first impression. Of course, all who audition are expected to be in line with the standards stated in "For the Strength of Youth."

Be sure to join us with your family and friends for our Spring Concert Series and Community Benefit. We have two dates and locations for you to choose from. April 19th at 7:00 at the North Stake Building (6386 North Howdershell Rd, in Hazelwood, MO) or April 27th at 7:00 at the Untied Methodist Church (689 W Lockwood Ave, Webster Groves, MO) Bring a personal care item (tooth paste, tooth brushes etc) that will be donated to The Center for Women in Transition. We look forward to seeing you there!

Mark your calendars now for the evening of December 14th when the Rising Generation Youth Chorus performs with the St. Charles / Town and Country Symphony Orchestras to present a special community sing along of G.F. Handel’s "Messiah". Tickets are $6 and go on sale mid November. We look forward to seeing you there!

Rising Generation Singing Valentines

Sweet Singing!

Forms are due to Rising Generation Youth Chorus members no later than January 31, or must be received via mail by February 4.

Christmas Joy! Plan now to attend!

Rising Generation Youth Chorus is pleased to present CHRISTMAS JOY!, a benefit concert for Rainbow Village. In its 12th season, Rising Generation, a group of well practiced 13-18 year old youth from the LDS church, will present an energetic mix of fun and traditional Christmas songs, both Christian and secular, in various styles of arrangement.

We are honored to be donating our proceeds, over cost, to Rainbow Village, a non-profit organization, that provides safe, comfortable, and affordable homes in the St. Louis Metro Area for people with developmental disabilities. Working collaboratively with others, they currently house over 240 people in 54+ homes. Additional donations to Rainbow Village can be made at the concert location.

Friday, December 23, 2011 - mark your calendars!

Please plan your holidays to include singing along with the Rising Generation Youth Chorus in our performance of Handel's glorious MESSIAH!

What is a sing-along? an informal performance in which the audience serves as the unrehearsed chorus, supported by a carefully prepared core group. Orchestra and soloists are usually professionals, though their services are donated for charity benefits.

It is reported that Handel himself used the oratorio for a Foundling Hospital to "raise funds for the maintenance and education of . . . the children." All proceeds and donations from our concert will benefit the Judevine Center for Autism - and the families they serve that deal with the effects of autism.

The musical score: Feel free to bring your own, or we will have Schirmer scores available at the door for cost ($8.00). Of course, you can just sit and listen, if you so desire, but most will want to sing-along!

We will be presenting the Christmas portion of the work (PART I; the Hallelujah Chorus; and Worthy is the Lamb/Amen).
